The Western Publishing Association is a non-profit business association dedicated to the advancement of the media publishing industry in the western United States.

With more than 62 year’s experience, the Western Publishing Association offers a variety of services and benefits to its members. Our primary mission, to provide continuing education to the media publishing industry, is accomplished through seminars,  publishing conference, publishing roundtables, and partnering with other groups and associations to offer online audio and video conferences.

What Is WPA?

The mission of the Western Publishing Association is to help promote excellence in all facets of all types of publishing, print and digital. Our goal is to help our member organizations achieve recognition for world-class publishing.
One of WPA’s primary objectives of the Maggies is to promote the pursuit of excellence among publishing & media professionals. The tools, training and information WPA provides are designed to improve skills, foster creativity and inspire the publishing community to do their best work.

WPA believes recognition is the best way to honor achievement. For 64 years, WPA has bestowed awards of excellence to deserving individuals and companies whose work is deemed “The Best in the West” in a wide variety of publishing categories.

Membership in the Western Publishing Association is open to all print and online media companies and publishers, as well as event companies. Industry-related suppliers, consultants and freelancers are also welcome to join.

At present, WPA has 150 member companies across the western United States. For 63 years, the WPA has been providing continuing education to the media and publishing industry, as well as annually honoring excellence in media through our MAGGIE Awards® Program.
